Home language literacy practices: learning opportunities for primary EAL students

Abstract It is well-established in both scholarship and policy documents that students’ home language practices can be leveraged as a key resource for their learning. However, it challenging teachers to embed resources class activities ways link wider learning objectives. We report how the inclusion of literacy enhance English promote multiliteracies. Data are drawn from design-based study on incorporation languages teaching English. In article, we focus occurred classroom two an Additional Language (EAL) teachers. collected comprised lesson sequences, teacher reflection, student work samples reflection. was found teacher-initiated support led positive engagement.
